Mayor Kaptain to Host “Listening Sessions”

Mayor Kaptain to Host “Listening Sessions”
Residents of Elgin now have the opportunity to voice their thoughts and opinions to Mayor David Kaptain during the “Mayor’s Community Listening Sessions”, scheduled to take place through live on-line webchats each month throughout the year.

Residents can log in to participate online at www.cityofelgin.org, or can attend the live session at Sherman Hospital, 1425 N. Randall Road in the Lake Level Meeting Rooms 1-3. Residents can type in comments and ques-tions and the mayor will respond directly in the webcast.

The purpose of the listening tour is for the newly elected mayor to hear directly from residents on issues, ideas and concerns they would like to share with their city government. These sessions are intended to provide a forum to discuss the important policy issues that will shape the future of our community. Residents are encouraged to participate either online or in person.

The monthly discussion subjects may vary, but will center around three main questions that will be posed to residents:

What should the city start doing?
What should the city stop doing?
What things should the city continue to do?

In addition to the online chats, other Mayor’s Community Listening Sessions will be scheduled at various locations throughout the city, including a neighborhood meeting on July 11, at Calvary Baptist Church, 551 Arlington Avenue and another online chat on July 25, at the Gail Borden Public Library, Rakow Branch, 2751 W. Bowes Road.

Residents can check out the complete summer schedule of Mayor’s Listening Sessions and live webchats at the city’s website www.cityofelgin.org/mayorkaptain. More meetings will be announced as they are scheduled. For more information email murphy_c@cityofelgin.org. or call 847-931-5667.
