Featuring: Monica Restrepo, La Musa del Vallenato accompanied by
Sensacion Vallenata from NYC

Monica Restrepo was the long-time front woman Las Musas del Vallenato, Colombia’s only all-female vallenato group ever to attain international success. Originally formed in 1988, in an era when vallenato was a male-dominated genre, Las Musas del Vallenato broke important gender barriers in Colombia’s male-dominated music industry. Originally born into a musical family from the caribbean city of Cartagena, Restrepo was the voice of the group during much of its most successful period, during which they traveled and won awards all over Latin America, the U.S. and Europe. She will be joined by a select group of Colombian musicians from Chicago and New York City, featuring master accordeonist Pedro Rodger, winner of multiple vallenato festivals in Colombia.
