Chicago participates in national moment of remembrance on september 11th

On the 10th Anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Chicago will participate in a National Moment of Remembrance to pay tribute to the victims and their families as well as the brave men and women of the Chicago Fire and Police Departments who joined New York first responders to help with rescue and response efforts.

The National Moment of Remembrance is at 12:00PM on Sunday, September 11th.

Mayor Emanuel, joined by Chicago Fire Department Commissioner Robert Hoff, First Deputy Police Superintendent Alfonza Wysinger, and Chicago Treasurer Stephanie Neely will participate in the National Moment of Remembrance at the “Little Cubs” Field at Humboldt Park.

The National Moment of Remembrance will be recognized across the city as well. At 12:00 PM on Sunday:

•Police cars and fire trucks throughout the city will stop and sound their sirens;
•Various churches across the city will ring their bells;
•Both O’Hare and Midway Airports will present the American flag; and
•The CTA will present a commemorative message on digital screens across the CTA system reading “CTA Remembers 9/11 – Let Us Never Forget.”
Following the Moment of Remembrance, the Chicago Police and Fire Departments will team up against Chicago Blackhawks Alumni in a softball game at the “Little Cubs” Field at Humboldt Park.
