Eduardo Mendoza de Echave (“The Gospel of the Flesh”) brings to life the true story of how years of undercover police work led to the arrest of Abimail Guzmán, leader of the Shining Path guerrilla movement. Carlos Zambrano and Gabriela Coronado are two detectives from Peru’s National Police Force who go undercover as a couple to find out the whereabouts of Guzmán. Unbeknownst to them, their work is being undermined by the CIA, the National Intelligence Service, their fellow detectives and even Fujimori’s infamous intelligence chief, Vladimiro Montesinos.

Eduardo Mendoza de Echave (“El evangelio de la carne”) da vida a la historia real de cómo años de trabajo clandestino llevaron al arresto de Abimail Guzmán, líder del movimiento guerrillero Sendero Luminoso. Carlos Zambrano y Gabriela Coronado son dos detectives de la Policía Nacional de Perú que posan como pareja para dar con el paradero de Guzmán. Sin ellos saberlo, su trabajo está siendo socavado por la CIA, el Servicio de Inteligencia Nacional, sus colegas detectives e incluso por el infame jefe de inteligencia de Alberto Fujimori, Vladimiro Montesinos.
